Eight Iranian fishermen were saved from the open sea by a Pakistan Navy warship after an uncontrolled fire broke out on their boat, the Pakistan Navy said in a statement on Monday.
The Iranian fishing boat reported a big, uncontrollable fire and requested aid to save its eight members, who were fleeing the boat.
While operating near the tragic boat, PNS YARMOOK hurried to address the issue. “Despite heavy fire on the vessel, PNS YARMOOK not only safely rescued all 8 crew members from the sea but also controlled the fire onboard the blazing vessel by using its own modern firefighting equipment,” it stated.
The Pakistan Navy’s efforts to provide rescue and humanitarian aid in international seas are a commendable example of the PN’s professionalism and alertness.
“Pak Navy is committed and obligated to effectively ensure Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) in line with UNCLOS while safeguarding national maritime frontiers,” said the statement.
