Due to the possibility of rain in Colombo, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is thinking about moving the Super Four matches of the 2023 Asia Cup to Dambulla.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka will co-host the Asia Cup in 2023. The opening match of the tournament, between Pakistan and Nepal, took place in Multan on September 2.
The intense match between India and Pakistan, which was played in Kandy, was called off after just one inning.
Colombo will host the Super Four games starting on September 9. There is a strong likelihood of rain there, so the weather forecast is not good.
It is situated in Sri Lanka’s central highlands and is drier than Colombo. The Singhalese Sports Club (SSC) grounds, one of the best cricket grounds in the nation, are also located there.
The location of the tournament’s next stage has not yet been decided by the ACC. The decision to move the games to Dambulla is nevertheless gaining support because the weather outlook for Colombo is not promising.
The ACC is hoping that Colombo’s weather will get better so that the Super Four games can be held there. The games, however, will probably be moved to Dambulla if the weather does not get better.
Najam Sethi, a former leader of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), also provided a weather forecast for Colombo for the upcoming week.
