An audit report published by the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) exposed widespread corruption within the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).

The audit report stated that, in accordance with the details, a sizable amount of Rs. 100 million in cash was improperly removed from the PHF’s bank accounts over the course of the previous two years.

As a result of officials taking money out of accounts without authorization, which was against the organization’s bylaws, the audit report also advised taking harsh action against them.

After Brigadier (R) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar, the president of the Pakistan Hockey Association, refused to call for new elections earlier this year, the sports board demanded a special audit of the hockey federation.

Later, elections were held, and he was re-elected, but he will be in hot water again when the report is officially released because he was at the helm of the PHF at the time of the corruption.

This is not the first time money has been taken directly from the bank accounts of national sports organizations. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hockey Association (KPHA) claimed in 2017 that Rs. 116.5 million was embezzled in the same way.

It is worth noting that Khalid was the President of the PHF at the time, and Shahbaz Senior was the Secretary of the federation. However, no action was taken in response to the allegations.
