During an Instagram live session, Ayesha Omer and actress and director Rose McGowan talked on various topics related to sexual harassment in the showbiz industry.
Upon hearing about McGowan’s remarkable strength, Ayesha Omer decided to come forward with her story of sexual assault as well.
Rose McGowan is an actor-turned-activist and one of the fore-bearers of the #MeToo movement. She is determined to give voice to the victims of harassment, whether they are male or female. She decided to hear out Pakistani actress Ayesha Omer’s sexual assault story too.
“I was this young 23-year-old, fresh out of college, and bam, this started happening. And it went on for years,” revealed Ayesha Omer during the live session
She further said “It wasn’t a one-off incident, and I just didn’t want to process it. I put in a box, and I said okay, this is happening in my life, I have to deal with it. I didn’t wanna share it with anybody, I let it stay there for 15 years, and I finally spoke about it to someone two years ago,”
Earlier this year, during an interview with Bol Tv, Ayesha omer was asked about her take on MeToo movement against sexual harassment She stressed the importance of talking about it. “This movement is extremely important because it takes a lot for the people who’ve been victims to open up about their experiences. There are so many men and women in our own industry who have been through it,” Omar said.
