Fast bowler Mohammad Amir, responding to criticism of his performances and the team’s exit from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, discussed how Pakistan captain Babar Azam may serve as an example for others.
Based on its net run rate, Pakistan was eliminated from the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Ex-cricketers, specialists, and large segments of the social media community had demanded that Babar Azam step down as Pakistan’s captain. The latest players to voice their desire for the Pakistani skipper to relinquish his position as the frontman are all-rounder Imad Wasim and bowler Mohammad Amir.
On a broadcast on a private channel, the left-arm pacer stated that Babar Azam must stand down eventually, whether he wants to or not, and that he should set an example by doing so.
The all-rounder, who is left-handed, stated that he would counsel Babar Azam to resign from the captaincy, believing that a captain who is unable to perform during a World Cup has to resign from the position. Babar is not the only person in question; any player who falls short in his role as captain needs to go.
In nine games, the right-handed hitter amassed 320 runs at an average of 40 and a strike percentage of 82.90. The skipper of Pakistan amassed four half-centuries, his highest being 74 against Afghanistan.
