A powerful explosion rocked Khuzdar’s Nal tehsil, killing at least five people and injuring seven others on Wednesday.

The blast, which took place near a market, set fire to vehicles and motorcycles, creating panic in the area.

According to police officials, the explosives were planted in a motorcycle and were aimed at a tribal leader, Abdul Samad Samalani, who sustained serious injuries in the attack. The deceased have been identified as Obaidullah, Munir Ahmed, and Nadir, while the identities of the others are yet to be confirmed.

Following the explosion, rescue teams and law enforcement agencies, including the police and Levies Force, rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area, and launched an investigation. The injured were immediately shifted to Khuzdar CMH and Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities are currently assessing the nature of the blast, while security measures in the region have been heightened. Edhi sources confirmed that the death toll has reached five, and the number of injured may rise as some victims remain in critical condition.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

Just a day ago, security forces successfully thwarted a terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.

According to ISPR, the operation resulted in the elimination of 16 terrorists, including four suicide bombers. However, five soldiers embraced martyrdom. The terrorists attempted to breach the security by ramming two explosive-laden vehicles into the walls of the cantonment. The attack also claimed the lives of 13 civilians and left 32 others injured.

ISPR further revealed that evidence suggests Afghan nationals were involved in the attack. The terrorists aimed to break through the security of the cantonment, and the suicide bombings caused damage to the protective walls.
