Renowned Pakistani playback and qawwali singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been in the news lately due to a contentious video in which he is shown aggressively abusing a “student” who has allegedly lost a “bottle.”
Social media users domestically and internationally took notice of Khan after he was shown in the video, which went viral on social media, cursing and punching a member of his personal staff while intoxicated.
Chinmayi Sripada, an Indian playback singer, posted a video of the event on social media, calling it “horrendous” and saying that if cameras had been there earlier, powerful individuals who appear kind in public would have been exposed long ago. In addition, she denounced Khan for his “inhumane behaviour.”
Sripada posted on Platform X, saying, “Some of these people behave like such gentle, soft-spoken souls in public; one would never think they’d be capable of such inhumane behaviour.”
“More people we honour as so-called greats would have been exposed to the public for who they truly were if cameras had been around earlier,” she continued.
“Absurd,” she said.
Conversely, Mishi Khan, a Pakistani actress and broadcaster with a talent for calling a spade a spade, posted a video on Instagram offering her thoughts on the situation.
“My God, it’s so disturbing to witness a megastar behaving like a savage and viciously abusing his own staff members. How petty and narrow-minded. Hey, that’s a lot of money, and it’s kind of cruel.” Astagfirullah,” Khan captioned the photo.
“Mr. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan created a video message on Facebook with the man he severely beat, even the unfortunate father, saying it was a bottle containing dum ka pani and that it was an Ustad Shagird joke.

Definitely, you should check into rehab. Khan said, “Stop the lies and get some medical help,” as the title for another Instagram video.
