Gilgit-Baltistan’s Burzil Pass has reopened following a successful route clearance operation by the Pakistani Army.
The Pass is crucial since it links several parts of Gilgit-Baltistan. The Pass, which is 178 kilometers from Gilgit, is a crucial crossing route for both the Pakistan Army and the local populace.
At 13,808 feet above sea level, the pass is blanketed with snow from October through April for more than half the year.
There are 15,000 people living in the region, and 61 settlements can only be reached by this one road. Every year, between 50,000 and 60,000 automobiles go via Burzil Pass.
Winter snowfall caused Burzil Pass to shut down.
With persistent work, the Pakistan Army was able to operationalize this important gateway. During the clearance phase, fourteen bulldozers, eleven snow vehicles, two wheel dozers, and one excavator were utilized.
