Bushra Bibi manoeuvres the LHC to avoid being arrested.

Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, has filed a petition with the Lahore High Court asking that her arrest be postponed and that the court be informed of all cases involving her, including any unreported first information reports (FIRs).

After her husband’s “illegal” removal from the PM office in April of last year as a result of a vote of no confidence, the former first lady petitioned the provincial high court on Monday through her attorney, Advocate Mushtaq Ahmad Mohal. All of the respondents in the petition are the federal, provincial, and law enforcement agencies.

Her petition claims that the respondents filed numerous fictitious and frivolous FIRs against Khan, her, and other family members in an effort to use political victimisation against them.

Bushra Bibi has asserted that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab, and police, who are the respondents, withheld information about the Federal Investigation Reports (FIRs) filed against her in order to prevent her from applying to the courts for pre-arrest bail.

The petition contended that it is illegal, unlawful, and a violation of fundamental rights for the respondent to withhold information about the cases that have been filed against her from the petitioner.

“That act of the respondents regarding filing false, frivolous, baseless, and fabricated FIRs against the petitioner and concealing the FIRs numbers, police stations, districts, dates, and provinces clearly indicates that the respondents intend to detain the petitioner without giving her a chance to obtain relief from competent legal authorities in the form of anticipatory bails and pre-arrest bails, as well as to keep the FIRs against her secret at the request of the court.

It requested that the court deem the respondents’ actions to be unlawful and forbid them from detaining Bushra Bibi in connection with any unnamed case or investigation.

Additionally, it requested that the court order the respondents to provide details regarding all legal actions brought against the former premier’s wife. The court of Justice Alia Neelum will hear the petition.
