Bushra Bibi, a former first lady, met Imran Khan, the chairman of the PTI, on Tuesday. Imran Khan is currently being held in the Attock jail after being apprehended following his conviction in the Toshakhana case.
Before Bushra Bibi was permitted to enter the prison, her car was examined. The former prime minister’s sister went to meet her after her visit.
Imran Khan was given a sentence in the Toshakhana case, and the Islamabad High Court (IHC) today (Aug 29) ordered his release and suspended the sentence. He was not released from custody, though, as his legal remand in the cypher case expires tomorrow.
Earlier, a federal capital accountability court granted Bushra Bibi’s request for pre-arrest bail in the Toshakhana case until September 12.
The hearing was presided over by on-call judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain because accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir is out of the office.
The bail was accepted by the court in exchange for Rs. 500,000 in surety bonds.
The wife of PTI Chairman Imran Khan was recently called in for questioning by the National Accountability Bureau regarding the Toshakhana case investigation.
Allegations have been made against Bushra Bibi that she kept a locket, chain, pair of earrings, two rings, a bracelet, and a diamond necklace from the Toshakhana gifts.
