How great would it be if you were able to identify the food placed in front of you by some source? Any food!. Microsoft researchers along with some universities have developed a smart fabric namely capacitivo which will be able to detect any food or drink or even some other objects you might place on it by the mere feel of the object.
The smart cloth apparently works on the principle of combining the working of capacitive electrode grid and machine learning after which it detects the final shape and nature of the object.
Scientists are soon expecting the smart fabric or table cloth to serve as a memory tool as well i.e. it will remind you to clean up the remaining utensils or food you have left on table.
While its in the initial working, it is not yet perfect in recognizing some objects, but soon it will be able to do so as the innovation goes up.
