According to Zahir ud Din Babar, CEO of the Deaf International Cricket Council (DICC), the DICC T20 World Cup 2023 will begin play on December 3 in Doha, Qatar.

In this elite deaf cricket event, South Africa and England will play the first game on December 3; Pakistan will begin its campaign against Afghanistan in Qatar on December 4.

According to Zahir, the DICC is celebrating a historic occasion by hosting this premier deaf cricket event in Qatar, a nation renowned for its sporting prowess that has made a name for itself as one of the world’s best sports destinations.

He thanked the Honourable Sheikh AbdulAziz Saoud Al-Thani, President of the Qatar Cricket Association, for showing a particular interest in and providing unwavering support for the organisation of this historic event, which is a step towards further promoting cricket among ardent hearing-impaired cricket enthusiasts.

“Deaf cricket is becoming a popular sport in Qatar with the involvement of its local cricketers, thanks to the special efforts and keen interest of Ahmad Mohd QT Al Subaey, Chairman of the Deaf Cricket Sports Centre Qatar,” the DICC official stated.

He stated that Asian Town International Cricket Stadium, a renowned cricket venue, will host the T20 World Cup matches. “The Deaf Cricket Sports Centre’s President, Christopher Raja, has worked extremely hard to make first-rate arrangements to host the Cup in a fitting manner,” he continued.

“Deaf cricket is a historic game as it has a unique history of being one hundred years old, as this sport was introduced among deaf cricketers in the world,” he remarked in response to a query.
