Things took a turn when recently released Pakistani web series churails got banned from the Zee5 platform. The authorities have banned the series only for Pakistani viewers as it is still available international viewers.

Recently a few clips from the series got viral in which there was some explicit language used against which the social media users raised voices that this type of language should not be acceptable in a Pakistan based content.

After these social media discussions went viral, the video streaming platform Zee5 removed the series for Pakistani viewers only.

After this action, people had some questions as to why an Indian platform would ban a show because Pakistani audience found it offensive when the two countries are not even on good terms right now.

People are considering that PEMRA might have a bit of hand behind this action taken.

Starring Yasra Rizvi, Sarwat Gillani, Nimra Bucha and Mehar Bano; churails basically contains content associated with breakage of gender stereotypes in the society and how women have been tolerating so much that they need to be helped by fellow females.

Web series whether being Indian or belonging to Hollywood, contain explicit content and language which is enjoyed thoroughly by many viewers including a majority of Pakistani. This time they did not tolerate and started to criticize the show badly. Hence the video streaming platform decided to remove it. Churails director Asim Abbasi reacted to it and wrote on twitter: “How strange for #Churails to be lauded internationally, and now be shut down in its country of origin. In the very country where hundreds of artists came together to create something that could initiate dialogue and open doors for new narratives.”
