Prime Minister Imran Khan has recognized that the sudden action of the coronavirus pandemic hindered development on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) schemes in the country.

Talking at the inaugural ceremony of the new 886 km-long 600 KV transmission line from Matiari in Sindh to Lahore, PM Imran guaranteed to hustle up the pace of work on the CPEC schemes.

He continued that the Matiari-Lahore transmission line is a state-of-the-art plan and it has been finished under the CPEC.

The PM said that the transmission lines are timeworn and power damages are high, as a result of which even if there is electricity, it cannot be kept saved.

The surge in line losses puts a load on the people, he said, expecting that the new project will save electricity.

PM Khan highlighted that the eruption of coronavirus added some obstacles, including the disturbance of supply chains, which amplified prices of essential supplies. But as the situation is getting better, he said development will again be evident on CPEC-related projects as well as bringing down price increases.

He said that as a result of COVID-19, the prices of food items have increased all over the globe. He further mentioned that vaccinations, however, are assisting in bringing down the fear of coronavirus.
