The most watched video on YouTube with more than seven billion views is not a glamorous video song neither any extremely fun podcast but a children’s song; Baby Shark.
Well we get it, the baby shark do do do melody gets you instantly. It’s quite catchy right? But most viewed video on YouTube! Children do have some “avengers assemble” power in them.
Before baby shark, it was Louis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s song ‘Despacito” with the record of most viewed song on YouTube but now the South Korean English language version of Baby Shark has surpassed Despacito and taken the record. At least for now.
This song was released in June 2016 and in 2019 it was number 32 on the Billboard Hot hundred.
Its not only children who are fan of this catchy melody, it has taken up some adults in the fandom air as well. The Washington National’s baseball team used the song as an anthem and after claiming the winning title of World Series last year, urged the White House to play this particular song during the celebrations.
With so much popularity among children, a covid version was released as well during the beginning of the pandemic so that children could be taught the importance of washing hands and taking precautions in a fun way.
Out of four most viewed songs on YouTube, 2 belong to South Korea. Baby Shark and Gangnam Style by Psy.
Gangnam style held the title of most viewed song for around 3-4 years when it was finally overtook by “see you again” by Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa after the sudden death of Fast and Furious star “Paul Walker” who is featured in the video.
So currently the title for most viewed song goes to Baby Shark!
