According to BBC urdu, the KP government has decided to preserve the ancestry houses of bollywood actors; Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar. The government has planned to buy the houses and restore them.
After the reign of the British was over, Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar had migrated to India as before migration they were living in Peshawar. Moving to India, they chose to step in the career of acting and eventually became main leading actors of their time.
Before moving to Mumbai, both actors enjoyed their childhood in the Qissa Khwani area in Peshawar.
Among these two houses, there are around 1800 buildings that are over 100 years old which the government is planning to restore.
Raj Kapoor has passed away but Dilip Kumar is still alive and a resident in Mumbai with his wife Saira Banu who has lauded this decision of Pakistani government of preserving the houses.
Among these actors, Shah Rukh Khan also has childhood ties with Peshawar. The statement by BBC urdu read: “And that’s exactly what they are planning – they want to turn the mansions, both more than a 100 years old, into museums which will house memorabilia on the respective actors, including Shah Rukh Khan”
