Due to administrative errors, two private airlines operating in Pakistan have received show-cause orders from the country’s aviation authority.
Air Blue and Serene Air received warnings from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for exceeding flight delays and infringing on passenger rights.
The regulator sent a press release on Thursday stating that Serene Air received a show-cause notice on January 2 and Air Blue received one on January 15.
The Civil Aviation Authority has issued a warning, stating that regulatory actions, including financial penalties, licence suspension or cancellation, and a reduction in the number of scheduled flights, may be implemented if the private airlines fail to improve their performance.
The CAA has made it clear that the airlines violated established regulatory criteria by not conducting flight operations on schedule and on a regular basis, which caused a great deal of disturbance.
“The press release stated that the PCAA is steadfast in its commitment to maintaining passenger safety, comfort, and convenience by making sure all airlines using the nation’s airspace follow the strictest industry standards.”
It is important to note that both airlines account for a sizeable portion of the aviation market. According to the CAA’s punctuality rankings for the January–June 2023 period, Airblue secured the third position, while Serene Air secured the fourth, suggesting that both airlines had major issues with their operational management and service delivery.
