By sharply raising domestic flight prices, private airlines are capitalizing on Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) current operational problems.

Private airlines are reportedly charging between Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 70,000 for domestic flights, according to reports in the local media. Flights from Karachi to Lahore now cost up to Rs. 50,000 more than before.

Similar to this, a one-way ticket from Karachi to Islamabad costs between Rs. 55,000 and Rs. 61,000.

Following the failure of the national flag carrier to address its fuel scarcity issue, private airlines have increased their ticket costs. Nearly 50 flights have been canceled by PIA in the previous two days.

However, a PIA official asserted that after obtaining funding for fuel purchases, the flight schedule will return to normal. He stated that PIA used its own resources to secure the payments.

The representative also expressed regret to the passengers for any trouble the delayed and canceled flights had caused.
