Education minister Shafqat Mahmood has announced the final decision taken after todays meeting regarding the situation of covid-19 and educational institutions. He said that all educational institutions including school, colleges, universities and tution centers will remain closed from 26th November till 10th January 2021 as the number of coronavirus cases are rising across the country.
Earlier during the morning, education ministers from all provinces had met to decide whether winter vacations should be extended to avoid extreme spread of virus during the second wave.
After the meeting, Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood and special minister to the prime minister on health, Dr. Faisal Sultan addressed and announced that from 26th November i.e. Thursday students will continue their studies at home and online classes will resume.
After addressing the press conference he tweeted as well: “When we say all educational institutions will close on Nov 26 and students will home learn, we mean all institutions without exception.”
Other than this, he also mentioned that all exams that were supposed to be taken during December will be postponed and shall resume from January when educational institutions might be opened again.
