Relief for imprisoned former prime minister Imran Khan, who was freed in two separate incidents involving the violence on May 9,.
Khan, who has been detained since August of last year, was found not guilty in two instances involving the violence on May 9. The PTI head was acquitted due to inadequate evidence by District and Sessions Court Judicial Magistrate Omar Shahab, who presided over the hearing of bail requests.
Imran Khan Mirza Asim Beg and Naeem Panjotha’s attorneys concluded their arguments about the bail requests by emphasising that the FIR was lodged by an unauthorised party and that there was insufficient evidence to substantiate the Section 109 charges.
Following Imran Khan’s imprisonment on May 9, violence broke out, igniting rallies throughout Pakistan. The protests took place in both large and remote cities, and in order to keep the peace, the military forces were sent to Islamabad, Balochistan, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
PTI employees stormed a number of military locations during the demonstrations, including the Corps Commander’s residence in Lahore. In every riot case involving May 9, Imran Khan is the primary accused.
