The Punjab Masstransit Authority (PMA) was obliged to halt a fast metro bus service that it had started last year due to a shortage of funding and cars.
The commuters, who claim that the “non-stop” bus service saved them at least twenty minutes of time, have protested the decision.
There were just seven stops on the rapid metro bus route that ran between the Pakistan Secretariat in Islamabad and Saddar in Rawalpindi. However, the usual bus route between the two cities, which makes 24 stops, takes about 50 minutes.
Seven metro buses out of a total of 68 vehicles were set aside for the express project, according to PMA General Manager Operations Uzair Shah. Though the metro express service was initially well received, it eventually proved to be unprofitable.
The PMA was forced to return to regular bus service as a result. “From now on, every metro bus traveling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad will halt at each of the 24 bus stations,” he stated.
Shah stated that after a few little tasks are finished, the 6th Road bus stop should be operational by February 3.
It’s also possible that the divisional administration’s choice to host a “special function” to officially open the 6th Road bus stop contributed to the delay in its opening. Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, the Caretaker CM, would be present at the event.
A senior commissioner’s office official claims that the divisional administration has not been able to obtain the chief minister’s availability dates for the garrison city.
