The protesters allegedly blocked traffic on the M-4 near Chak 434-JB, according to ASI Muhammad Nawaz, who filed another FIR against 15 nominated and 70 unidentified individuals. As of yet, no one has been arrested.
Despite the legal issues, on Tuesday people in Kamalia demonstrated against high electricity prices by obstructing traffic on Chichawatni-Rajana Road at Kalma Chowk. They set money on fire and yelled anti-government chants.
SARGODHA: The district bar association and the Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised a rally, to which a sizable portion of the general public also participated.
While DBA President Rana Zafar Yasin said the lawyers would assist the customers in filing legal complaints against the high tariff, SCCI President Sajid Hussain Tarrar demanded that the government reverse the increase in the power tariff. Additionally, the traders threatened to go on strike on September 2.
The protesters threatened to besiege the grid stations if the power supply was suspended and said they wouldn’t deposit the bills. They also said they would assemble a force at the Mohallah level to prevent the Fesco officials from cutting off the electricity.
BAHAWALPUR: While the traders observed a strike and closed their shops, the Anjuman-i-Tajiran organised a procession from Trust Colony Chowk to Khatm-i-Nubuwat Chowk on the Circular Road to protest the high cost of electricity.
At the Islamia University Chowk, Israr Hussain Shah’s other traders’ rally was dispersed. Additionally, PPP activists protested today’s inflated bills by taking to the streets at Fowara Chowk.
The traders declared they would be participating in a full strike on Wednesday (today).
OKARA: On Thursday (tomorrow), traders in the cities of Dipalpur and Renala Khurd will go on a strike in protest of the high cost of electricity.
From Venus Chowk to Gole Chowk, a rally was led by the Markazi Anjaman-i-Tajiran and political party leaders, including Chaudhry Fayyaz Zafar of the PML-N, Dr. Jahan Zeb of the PPP, and Abdul Shakoor Tahir of the PTI.
DERA GHAZI KHAN: Traders, Dera Ghazi Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industry office holders, and regular citizens staged a protest against rising electricity prices.
As a symbol of their opposition to the increase in the price of electricity, the protesters set fire to their electricity bills. On the invitation of the chairman of the All Pakistan Trader Association, Khawja Muhammed Shafiq, another protest was held.
In protest of rising electricity prices, the Jamaat-i-Islami held a press conference and demonstration.
