Early on Thursday, a fire incident at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport caused delays in the departure of a Hajj aircraft.
According to preliminary indications, the fire may have partially damaged the airport’s immigration system, which is why immigration processes have been suspended. Because of the smoke, passengers were taken out of the immigration lounge as a precaution.
In order to put out the fire, Fire Brigade and Rescue 1122 arrived at the airport quickly after the occurrence. Authorities at the airport said they are still looking into what caused the fire.
There have been no casualties recorded, according to the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, and things at the airport are gradually getting back to normal. Four Hajj flights were conducted smoothly today in spite of the situation.
All airport authorities are working hard to get things back to normal, and once the technological problems are fixed, operations should pick back up entirely.
Recall that on June 9th, the month-long Hajj air operations would come to an end. All planes will land at the Madina airport during the first fifteen days, according to the Ministry of Religious Affairs. According to a ministry official, the majority of planes will arrive at the Jeddah airport between May 24 and June 9.
