Food prices to be reduced before Ramadan

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan engaged the relevant authorities on Friday to cut down the food items costs before the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan this year.

Imran Khan directed a high-level meeting in Islamabad to talk over the costs and accessibility of basic supplies and said that the continuous availability of necessary things at low charges in the marketplaces must be guaranteed during Ramadan for the ease of the public.

The Finance Minister, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, explained it to the the attendees that the Sensitive Price Indicators had revealed a drop in the costs of onions, tomatoes, chicken, and meat in the past seven weeks, and further stated that the price of vegetable ghee will also be lessened in coming weeks.

The meeting was attened by many major persoanlaites including the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, the Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Senator Shibli Faraz, Syed Ali Haider Zaidi, Syed Fakhr Imam, Ali Amin Gandapur, Advisor Dr. Ishrat Hussain, Special Assistants Muhammad Usman Dar and Dr. Sania Nishtar, the Managing Director Utility Stores, and senior officers.
