On Thursday, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced a fuel charges adjustment (FCA) for ex-Wapda distribution companies (DISCOs) of Rs. 1.71 per unit.

According to the notification released by the electricity regulator, the rise in tariff will be applied to all consumer categories with the exception of lifeline consumers and electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS).

Additionally, based on the units billed to consumers in the month of August 2023, the increase will be indicated individually on the consumers’ bills. The gasoline charges adjustment for August 2023 will be reflected by distribution firms in the billing period of October 2023.

It is important to note that DISCOs submitted a petition asking for a 1.82-rupee increase for units billed in August.

On the basis of units billed to consumers in the month of July 2023, the power regulator announced last month a Rs. 1.46 per unit rise in the price of electricity as a result of fuel charges adjustment for DISCOs.
