Sindh has allotted Government College Hyderabad the rank of a university a few days ago.
Based on the info from the notification given out by the Government of Sindh Universities and Boards Department, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved the status of the university to the college and has selected Dr. Tayyaba Zarif as its Vice-Chancellor for the time of four years on consistent terms and conditions.
Dr. Zarif had before this worked as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nawabshah University, and now holds the rank of Dean. She completed her MA in Education from Karachi University in 1998, and further completed an M.Phil. and a Ph.D.
In the interim, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Asad Umar, told that the finance for the improvement of a federal university in Hyderabad has been scheduled in the National Assembly.
