The Government of Pakistan will now be providing basic mobile services and high-speed internet facilities at tourist locations, taking it as one of the basics to endorse travel and tourism in the country.
A suggestion has been directed to the Universal Service Fund (USF) board to initiate special projects that make sure that fast internet service are provided at tourist spots including Babusar Top, Saiful Malook Lake, and Kumrat Valley.
Based on the reports, USF’s board was guided by the IT Minister to offer internet connectivity at main spots.
The Federal Secretary for Ministry of IT and Telecommunication and the Chairman of the USF Board, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, chaired over the seventy-sixth conference of the Board of Directors of the USF and permitted the initiation of a latest program namely the ‘Next Generation Broadband for Sustainable Development Programme for Tourist Locations’ to endorse tourism in the country.
The USF Chief Executive Officer, Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary, briefed the attendees that “This will not only provide information and communication technologies (ICT) to domestic and foreign tourists but will also play a significant role in sending a timely response to agencies concerned in case of an emergency,” .
