Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, the minister of energy for Sindh, declared on Thursday that the government is going to start putting up solar panels in all of the province’s districts as part of the Sindh Solar Project.
Approximately 200,000 homes, both in the city and the countryside, will get solar panels, the minister added. This choice was made after consulting with a World Bank (WB) delegation that was being led by the country director for Pakistan.
In accordance with the program, grants of $160 for each house in rural areas and $110 for each house in urban areas will be made available. Ten districts will receive solar panel installation at first, with plans to extend the project throughout Sindh.
The WB delegation had expressed satisfaction with the province’s current rate of energy development, Minister Shaikh added.
The Sindh Solar Energy Project in Pakistan aims to boost solar power production and expand the province’s access to energy. A part of this initiative aims to put in place affordable Solar Home Systems (SHSs) in high-need locations with poor or no access to electricity.
