As a result of hackers gaining access to a private company’s database that is utilised by hundreds of eateries, more than 2 million Pakistani residents are at risk of data leak.
Customers who provided restaurants with their private information in exchange for a wealth of personal information, including credit cards, addresses, and other financial information, were impacted by the event.
According to media reports, hackers obtained the personal information of up to 20 lac Pakistanis after breaking into the restaurant system. The stolen personal data is being sold for 2 Bitcoin, which is equivalent to roughly 15 million Pakistani rupees.
When listing popular restaurants, hackers admitted to having access to the databases of over 250 establishments.
On the other side, the Federal Investigators claimed they didn’t get any complaints about it.
Pakistani authorities foiled an effort to hack into key government officials’ cell phones in order to gain sensitive information earlier this year. The attempt to hack into senior government officials’ mobile phones was unsuccessful.
The government has ordered all financial and IT organisations to refrain from installing or using artificial intelligence (AI) products or services with an Indian origin.
