The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) as of today was banned by the Lahore High Court (LHC) to not file a case against Pakistan team skipper Babar Azam over a harassment complaint after it adjourned a court directive guiding authorities to do so.
In the appeal, Azam’s lawyer opposed that the session court did not heed to his client’s point of view. He further mentioned that Azam was not guilty and requested to the court for justice.
While delivering the deferral orders, the LHC ordered the FIA to give in its response in the case in the time period of two weeks and gave out a notice to complainant Hamiza Mukhtar.
Mukhtar was also requested by the court to convey her stance in person or via a lawyer.
The Pakistan team captain had challenged an order by a session court guiding the FIA to file a case against him under the cybercrime regulation on the harassment complaint.
Mukhtar has alleged Azam and others of throwing death threats on WhatsApp messages via various mobile numbers.
She stated she was constantly being blackmailed by the accused. They said they would put on edited pictures of her on social media if she did not agree to take on their demands, she mentioned.
