Dr. Usman Anwar, Inspector General of Punjab, has made it clear that there won’t be any closures of the province’s institutions, universities, or schools in any of its cities.
In reaction to the continuous uncertainty surrounding the province’s educational institutions, he made this statement. It should be mentioned that there have been rumours on social media and in certain news sources that a security danger might force the closure of schools from January 25 to January 29, 2024.
IG Punjab, however, has denied these rumours. Dr. Usman Anwar claims that there isn’t a security risk. He promised that business as usual would continue in all educational establishments.
The IG made it clear that they haven’t given any formal orders to shut down any colleges or schools in the province in a statement from the provincial capital.
Students in the province’s several cities—Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Faisalabad—would attend school as usual after the police chief’s announcement.
Dr. Usman Anwar referred to the rumours going around about schools closing as false. Additionally, he voiced his dissatisfaction with the misapplication of internet platforms for the propagation of false rumours.
The Inspector General threatened legal action against those who disseminated false material on social media.
