IG Punjab Inam Ghani has refused to defend the statement given by CCPO Lahore regarding motorway incident in which he blamed the victim for what happened to her. According to IG Punjab, there is now way the victim can b blamed for this.
“[A] guard cannot tell the owner of the house to protect their belongings themselves”, he stated
Provincial law minister has also refused to defend the CCPO’s statement terming it as inappropriate and that he doesn’t approve or agree with that statement.
After mother of 2 was gang raped in front of her children on newly constructed Lahore-Sialkot motorway, the leading person on this case CCPO Lahore Umar sheikh gave a statement that got him in hot waters.
He had said upon asking about the incident “I am surprised that a mother of three, a lone driver […] after leaving Defence should have taken the straight route from GT Road — a generally well-populated area,”
