Recent developments are making the horrifying story of the Pakistani host, who is being ridiculed for allegedly committing domestic violence, more intense.
The third wife of TV host Ashfaque Ishaq Satti, Nomaika Ashfaque Satti, has accused him of domestic abuse, and this has led to a judicial battle. Given the gravity of the charges, the North Nazimabad police in Karachi filed a complaint against Satti under sections 337-A, 506, and 324.
Nomaika revealed graphic images of her injuries from the assault on Facebook after sharing her horrific experience, sparking outrage and support from Pakistani people.
In reaction, 17-year-old veteran news anchor Ashfaque expressed profound regret over his issues being brought into the public eye and claimed to be dehumanized by public conversation.
In the midst of the controversy, he blamed journalist Rabia Anum for possible harm to his family, accusing her of making up articles and personal assaults. He served Anum with court documents in public, which increased interest in the case.
But Anum replied, seemingly mockingly, on her Twitter account, saying, “Oooo, I’m so scared.”
Satti was fired from a local television channel and came under intense criticism from both the left and the right. The claims of domestic abuse against anchor Ashfaq Satti have been carefully considered by the ARY management. He is suspended with immediate effect until the legal process concludes and a decision is made. In a post on platform X, the management of ARY stated that the channel had a zero-tolerance policy for violence or threats of violence, whether they occurred at home or at work (previously known as Twitter).
Media sources claim that Nomaika is Satti’s second wife. Domestic abuse was the reason for his first wife’s divorce. From his first marriage, Nomaika had been Satti’s caregiver for his children. The news anchor also has a third wife, Zara Satti, whom he wed following an extramarital affair.
The case serves as a sobering reminder of the significance of treating domestic abuse and making sure that the legal system is fair and just as the legal proceedings move.
