K-electric under cyber-attack with a demand of 3.85 million ransom from hackers.

K-electric recently became a target of Netwalker ransomware attack on 7th September 2020

The cyber-attack led to a disturbance in billing and online services. Being the only electricity provider for Karachi, K-electric is currently catering to more than 2 million consumers and more than 10,000 employees.

Reportedly the ransom amount demanded by the hackers is $3,850,000 which they have threatened to increase if the they do not pay the ransom within a week.

Ever since the cyber-attack, the customers are facing troubles while gainng access to their online website and accounts. Other than this, a local Pakistani security establishment tipped off a ransom ware investigator, Ransom Leaks, about the attack on K-Electric internal services. However, the power supply has not been affected.
