PSL will continue again soon but there’s one person who will not be there but will be missed. Dean Jones, Karachi King’s head coach passed away in September. Karachi Kings will now have to continue the rest of the tournament without Dean Jones.

Pakistani Former cricketer and Sultan of swing, Wasim Akram said that he will serve as Karachi’s head coach, he also said that no one can replace Dean Jones and his seat in the dressing room will be left empty as a tribute to him.

He said: “I am not taking Jones’s place as Kings’ head coach. I mean he will be missed throughout and we will leave his seat in our dressing room with his name.”

While remembering Dean Jones, Akram said: “He was a great buddy of mine. I know how he advocated for Pakistan across the world. He talked about Pakistan’s cricket, food, talent, and hospitality everywhere in the world.”

“I believe he was a great human being and as a coach he was brilliant. No coach in this world can take his place ever,”

Talking about the Karachi cricket team he said: “With Imad Wasim as captain, current Pakistan captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan being there, Iftikhar Ahmed being there, Mohammad Amir being there – all these guys are such thorough professionals. I will just have to organise and hopefully, that won’t be that difficult,”

Dean Jones had been an important part of the Tournament, PSL since its beginning. Originally, he had served as the head coach of Islamabad United for four seasons then he became the head coach of Karachi Kings for the current season. He was the most effective coach in the history of the tournament and had made Islamabad United win two titles in the tournament, PSL 1 and PSL 3.

Prior to taking over as a coach, Dean Jones had been considered as one of the best ODI batsmen. He had been a part of 164 ODIs for Australia, and scored more than 6,000 runs with an average rate of 44.6
