The very first route of Pakistan’s 1st electric bus service went into operation today in Karachi, according to the information minister for Sindh Sharjeel Memon.

The route of this pioneer electric bus would be between Seaview Beach and Clifton Clock. According to Memon, Karachi’s first batch of 50 electric buses has begun operating on city streets, and the fleet will gradually expand.

Furthermore, a solar-powered charging system has been installed by the government for the buses. 240 kilometers is the maximum distance that each bus can travel on a single charge, according to Memon.

He promised to put development, advancement, and prosperity first, beginning with providing the citizens with more effective transportation.

The Sindh government also announced plans to introduce an electric taxi service to compete with commute services toward the end of last year.

Memon claimed that the current ride-hailing services have dramatically raised their prices. This has made it even more important to launch a new, more affordable taxi service.

Memon claimed that the Sindh government is steadfastly working to establish a new, cozy, and environmentally friendly taxi service in Karachi. The public will soon be able to use this project, he added.

Memon did not provide a launch date, but given that the government has not yet begun testing the service, it is safe to assume that it will take some time.
