According to reports on Sunday, the police in Islamabad’s capital territory (ICT) will hire veterans of all branches of the armed forces.
200 veteran retired soldiers will initially be hired, according to reports.
The reports also state that the age restriction is 42 years old and that the minimum educational requirement for hiring is matriculation. A character certificate, national identity card (NIC), and academic credentials are additionally required.
For reasons of security, these former soldiers will be stationed in the red zone and in susceptible buildings.
In a recent move, the government in Islamabad asked the interior ministry to call back the Pakistan Army soldiers who had been stationed there for a month to keep the peace following the detention of former PM Imran Khan on May 9.
In order to regain control and uphold law and order following the nationwide rallies on May 10, the military was stationed in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad.
A minimum of eight individuals died and numerous others were injured as the situation grew tense during the protests, which lasted for almost three days. The current coalition government employed strategies like shutting down the internet and sending in the army to restore control.
