Minimum wages in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are raised to Rs32,000

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa interim cabinet agreed to raise the province’s minimum wage from Rs25,000 to Rs32,000 at a meeting on Wednesday, which was presided over by Chief Minister Azam Khan.

Caretaker ministers, advisors, special assistants, the chief secretary, and other senior officials participated in the meeting, where topics pertaining to the departments of auqaf, local government, agriculture, and population welfare were also covered.

The cabinet discussed additional grant-in-aid for Workers Children Education Board schools after recognising the need for additional funding to cover these schools’ costs for salaries, book purchases, uniforms, and stipends for the academic year 2022–2023. To ease financial strains, it approved additional grants-in-aid.

The transfer of three kanals of land in Dir Lower owned by the Health Department to Emergency Rescue Services KP was also approved at the cabinet meeting. The transfer would facilitate the opening of the Rescue 1122 station in the Dir Lower District’s Adanzai Tehsil.

The cabinet approved an additional grant under the ongoing AIP project for the impacted property owners in North Waziristan district in order to hasten the payment of compensation for damages to land, property, and buildings in Miran Shah Bazaar.

The cabinet gave its approval for the provision of health professional allowances to physicians working for the Department of Population Welfare in order to align their pay with that of physicians at the Department of Health.

The establishment of the food security support project to encourage agricultural development in the province and some amendments to the Local Government Act 2023 received initial approval at the meeting.
