Lt. Gen. Muhammad Munir Afsar was named chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) by the interim federal government on Monday.
The provisional cabinet gave its blessing to the appointment.
Lt Gen Munir was the Inspector General for Communication and Information Technology (IG C&IT) prior to his appointment as Nadra chairman. He is a member of the 81 PMA Long Course and the 16 Punjab Regiment.
In October 2022, Lt Gen. Afsar—who also received the military honour of Hilal-e-Imtiaz—was elevated to the three-star rank.
Asad Rehman had previously taken over as interim chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) after Tariq Malik’s resignation on June 13.
In July 2013, Malik was first named Nadra’s leader. He did, however, leave in January 2014. In June 2021, he was appointed to head the authority once more.
Interim PM Kakar, who presided over a meeting of the federal cabinet, stated that schemes for professional education and vocational training should be commensurate with the global labour market.
The prime minister, who referred to human capital as a national asset, gave instructions to ensure that vocational training is provided in accordance with contemporary needs on a war footing. He recommended reviving all technical and professional training facilities.
A modified service level agreement between TAKAMOL and the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission was also authorised by the government.
The cabinet gave its approval for the name change of Summit Bank Limited to Bank Makramah Limited.
