On Thursday, renowned mountaineer Naila Kiani became the first woman from Pakistan to reach the top of the 8,163-metre-high Manaslu peak, which is also the world’s eighth-highest peak.
Shehroze Kashif reclimbed Manaslu on Thursday after Naila had already scaled it, making him the youngest climber in history to have successfully scaled 12 peaks higher than 8,000 metres.
The mountaineering girl, who broke several world records, began the ascent on Wednesday and reached the summit this morning at 7:15 a.m. Her most recent accomplishment brought her to ninety-eight thousand.
The mother of two wants to advance her mountaineering journey by ascending all 14 peaks above 8,000 metres this year, so she plans to summit two more peaks in China.
Congratulations are in order for the girl who serves as a shining example of how people can overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles, according to Naila, a Pakistani banker who works in Dubai.
She previously conquered Gasherbrum-I (8,068m), Gasherbrum-II (8,035m), K2, and Annapurna peaks. Additionally, Kiani had scaled K2, the second-tallest peak in the world.
Naila was the second woman from Pakistan to conquer Mount Everest, which stands 8,849 metres above sea level, earlier in 2023.
She made history in July 2021 when she successfully ascended the 8,035-metre Gasherbrum II, the 13th highest mountain in the world, becoming the first female mountaineer from Pakistan. She was the first female Pakistani to summit any of the five peaks in her country that are higher than 8000 metres.
In July 2022, Kiani and Samina Baig became the only two Pakistani women to scale the 8,611-metre-tall K2, the second-highest mountain in the world. Naila made her first ascent of K2 and succeeded. She accomplished the peak of the 8,080-metre Gasherbrum I, the 11th highest mountain in the world, in August of the same year, making history as the first female Pakistani to do so.
The renowned climber was the first female Pakistani to climb Gasherbrum I after scaling K2. In April 2023, Kiani became the first woman from Pakistan to climb the 8,091-metre Annapurna, which is in Nepal and is the tenth-highest mountain in the world.
She ascended Mount Everest, which stands at 8,848 metres, earlier this year, becoming the second Pakistani woman to do so. In 2023, she became the first foreign climber to reach the top of Everest.
