The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has suggested that schools should have the summer holidays from 18 July to 2 August as it is likely that there will be fourth wave of covid hitting Pakistan in July.

On the other hand, the government of Punjab has not shown support for the recommendation and has proposed that the summer vacation should minimum be a month long starting from 2 July to 2 August.

The decision will be confirmed in the Inter-Provincial Education Conference (IPEC) in a few days, the Federal Minister for Education, Shafqat Mahmood will chair the meeting.

As an attempt to lessen the academic loss that occurred due to the frequent closures of schools as a result of the third wave of COVID-19, the provincial government had stated last month that there will be short spanned summer vacations inall the public and private schools

Murad Raas, Punjab’s Minister for School Education, had stated that students had faced so much loss because of the pandemic and that the summer break will be lessened to two or three weeks.
