Just after the premier of Web series Dhoop ki Deewar came out, it witnessed quite some criticism till the point that a hashtag to ban it namely #BanDhoopKiDeewar started to trend on social media even after the renowned writer associated with the series, Umera Ahmed released a comprehensive statement clearing the air regarding the misunderstandings.
The web series demonstrates the struggles and separations people to two war torn nations has to face. People have come forward to correct this notion in the series that it isn’t war that has separated India and Pakistan as shown in it rather it is the two nation theory.
A user wrote: “Two nations separated by TWO NATION THEORY, NOT WAR!”
Whereas another user questioned the lead stars Sajal and Ahad as to why would they work in this project where a softer side of India is being shown. He worte: “If I may ask #AhadRazaMir and #SejalAli Didnt you guys read the script?? How and why you choose to work in a project that is trying to soften the image of evil, brutal and shameless Indian Army? Have u forgotten the atrocities on our #Kashmiris ?? Such a shame !”
