Since the Health Department only has 50% of its workforce, Punjab’s Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education (SH&ME) has decided to hire more doctors and medical professionals.
Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Punjab’s Health Minister, presided over a meeting on the recruitment of medical staff, nurses, technologists, and medical officers in this regard. The meeting was attended by Secretary SH&ME, Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, Special Secretary Shoaib Jadoon, Additional Secretaries Shahada Farrukh, Agha Nabeel, Zahida Azhar, and Dr. Hafiz Shahid Latif.
The Minister disclosed during the meeting that SH&ME had written to the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) requesting the hiring of additional doctors to address the shortage.
PPSC officially advertised hundreds of BPS-16 Inspector (Legal) vacancies in the Punjab Police last month. There were 357 openings in total, 18 of which were designated for women and 54 for underrepresented groups.
It is also claimed by Punjab CM, that around 100,000 jobs for ulema and Huffaz-e-Quran has been created in the province by his government.
