During the holy month of Ramadan, the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) has promised to provide a continuous electricity supply across the nation.
The government-backed power transmission business is following its substantial repair programme for the NTDC transmission lines and grid stations in order to provide an uninterrupted supply of power across the nation, per the instruction of the Managing Director, Engr. Dr. Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan.
As part of the maintenance programme, the NTDC staff do a variety of tasks, including washing, cleaning, and replacing disc insulators. A business official made this revelation.
The spokesman went on to say that by completing these activities, grid stations and transmission lines will be more reliable, guaranteeing a constant supply of electricity throughout Ramadan. In the southern area, shutdowns for 500kV and 220kV transmission line circuits were also planned as part of this programme.
These shutdowns involved replacing the disc insulators on the red, yellow, and blue phases with RTV-coated disc insulators, cleaning and washing the insulators, and tightening the nuts and bolts on the line hardware.
The spokesperson stated that over 688 braces and 570 nuts and bolts were installed, 9,804 disc insulators were replaced at 55 locations, and 73,493 disc insulators were washed and cleaned at 459 locations. Two damaged disc insulator strings (132kV C.B. E5Q1 and E7Q1 C.B. Yellow Phase) as well as two healthy EMCO-Make disc insulator strings of 132kV C.B. E7Q1 (a total of four strings) were also replaced at 220kV Grid Station Jhampir-1.
He went on to say that the maintenance programme is being managed by the General Manager of Asset Management-South. The NTDC Managing Director, who also advised the appropriate gearbox line (maintenance) divisions to follow the repair schedule, was thanked for their performance, the official added.
