Overseas Pakistanis will be able to obtain Permanent Driver’s Licenses from the Islamabad Police Department

    The Islamabad Capital Territory Police (ICTP) made the decision to issue Pakistani foreigners with permanent driving licenses.

    A facility is being built at the new Traffic Head Office in Faizabad by the department for this purpose, as per a media report.

    According to the police, Federal Minister of the Interior Rana Sanaullah proposed the plan to assist ex-pat Pakistanis and directed the police chief to finalize and implement the system as soon as possible.

    He stated that the modern system will be launched in mid-May by Capital Police Officer (CPO) Safe City and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad. According to a police spokesperson, the ICTP is updating government programs to support Pakistanis living abroad.

    Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, IGP of Islamabad, stated that overseas Pakistanis with foreign driving licenses are now able to obtain an Islamabad driving license following their records are verified.

    Applicants have to pass a short training course before receiving a license, and their driving licenses will be restored via online biometric verification. In a statement to the media, IGP stated that these innovative initiatives will benefit women and foreign nationals in particular.
