The country reiterated its resolve to defend Pakistan’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity against all forms of attack on the 26th anniversary of the country’s nuclear tests.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, PM Acting President Gillani, and Services Chiefs have congratulated the people on Youm-e-Takbeer’s 26th anniversary, saying that they will not compromise on the nation’s defence.
Acting President Yousuf Raza Gillani reaffirmed his commitment to working towards a world that is stable and peaceful in his message for the day. He emphasised that Pakistan joined the ranks of nuclear nations on this day by effectively demonstrating its nuclear capabilities.
He highlighted Pakistan’s belief in peaceful conflict resolution as a responsible nuclear power and stated that Youm-e-Takbeer is a tribute to the country’s tenacity, resolve, and commitment to regional peace and stability.
In a statement posted on the social networking site X, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wished the country a happy Youm-e-Takbeer.
Youm e Takbeer, according to the prime minister, represents the combined strength of all aspects of the national power. The Prime Minister stressed that, despite outside pressure, the entire country vowed on this day to uphold national integrity and not compromise on defence.
He praised the Pakistan Army and previous prime minister Nawaz Sharif for taking the initiative to fortify the nation’s defences. He also paid tribute to the scientists and previous prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for their contributions to starting and maintaining Pakistan’s nuclear programme.

On May 28, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued an official proclamation of a public holiday in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer, a day that marks Pakistan’s entry into the nuclear armed forces and the country’s solidarity in bolstering its defence.
