The players of Pakistani cricket team are being criticized by the New Zealand’s Director-General of Public Health Dr. Ashley for not properly following the SOPs set up against the coronavirus.
It has been announced by the New Zealand’s health ministry that six players from the Pakistani cricket squad have been tested positive for the virus after their tests were conducted post landing.
The team has received a final warning from authorities that if there a breach of the SOPs one more time by the members of the team then they will be compelled to send the team back to Pakistan.
Ashley also stated that the players were seen doing activities that opposed the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
He stated: “Rather than being in their own rooms, which is a requirement for the first three days, there was some mingling in the hallways, chatting, sharing food and not wearing masks. I don’t know how many times they did that, but it only needs once for us to take a dim view of it.”
He added: “The training exemption would not have kicked in until after we had the results of the day-three testing, if we were happy with the results. All six of the positive tests were players, not the other members of their squad,It’s possible they could have infected other team members, but the key point is that everyone in the squad is treated as if they may have Covid. At least four of them are acute infection, while the other two may well be historical, but that’s being confirmed.”
