With the recent conclusion of the T20 World Cup, 12 teams have been finalized for the next edition of the mega event to be held in India and Sri Lanka in 2026. The upcoming ICC tournament will also have 20 teams divided into four groups of five each. The first two spots of the event were secured by India and Sri Lanka as hosts.

Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, USA and West Indies have qualified for the 2026 T20 World Cup. However, Babar Azam's team managed to secure a place in the next edition with their T20I ranking (7th) alongside New Zealand (6th) and Ireland (11th).
According to ICC, a total of 20 teams will be in action in T20 World Cup 2026, while the remaining 8 teams will be selected through regional qualifiers like the previous T20 World Cup. The T20 World Cup 2026 will be played on the same format as the recently concluded T20 World Cup in which 20 teams will be placed in 4 groups and 8 teams will qualify for the Super Eight stage. India won the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy by defeating South Africa by seven runs. Rohit Sharma's men have won the T20 World Cup title twice with England and West Indies since they won the title for the first time in 2007 by defeating Pakistan in the final.
