Pakistan has taken a significant step forward in the creation of a cultural theme park at Sikhism’s holiest shrines by formalising an agreement with a private group.
Islamabad took a step further in 2019 in a rare act of cooperation, opening the largest gurdwara in the entire world, as tensions between arch-rival nations made it difficult to access Kartarpur.
During his visit to the sacred site earlier this week, interim federal religious minister Aneeq Ahmad laid the cornerstone for the cultural theme park. The minister spoke with Sikh visitors and solicited their feedback on the gurdwara’s amenities.
The purpose of the action was to draw more pilgrims to the important Sikh shrine.
The cultural theme park’s first phase will be finished in six months, and the entire project will be finished in about three years. The first phase of the Cultural Theme Park will see the completion of the restaurants, play area, cultural music arena, and shops.
A water park, a mini zoo, a heritage club, a regional sports centre, a heritage village, cottages, and resorts will be among the park’s alluring amenities.
