Four special trains will be operated by Pakistan Railways to accommodate passengers during the Eid ul Fitr celebrations.

To improve travel convenience and reduce passenger traffic, special trains departing from Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta will be available.

Pakistan Railways CEO Aamir Ali Baloch has directed the start of special trains for Eid and mentioned that fares might be lowered in the event that oil prices drop.

Baloch also emphasized the necessity of continual efforts to guarantee the effective operation of the railway system and the relevance of coal transportation in covering over half of the railway expenditures.

He acknowledged Khawaja Saad Rafique, the previous minister of railways, for his efforts in improving the railway system, including the rehabilitation of tracks and the resuscitation of lucrative train services.

Pakistan Railways made the decision last month to purchase 820 capacity wagons and 230 passenger coaches as part of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

Out of the total, about 46 completely built-up (CBU) passenger coaches have been obtained thus far, according to a Ministry of Railways official.

The remaining 184 coaches will be produced in this country. The maximum speed at which these coaches are intended to drive is 160 km/h.
